A smaller wedding gives you choices, but “small” can mean twenty guests at dinner or seventy-five people with a dance floor. Start with the number who need seats at the same time. Then account for the couple, vendors, entertainment and any furniture that uses floor space.
The city’s published seated capacities are useful for an initial shortlist. They are not approval for your particular event layout. Ask each rental manager to confirm the floor plan before you book.
For about 20 guests.
Consider a room that leaves space to move without making the gathering feel lost. Lake Johnson’s Waterfront Conference Room, Anderson Point Cottage and Tucker House each list 50 seated places. Any could be worth asking about for a smaller gathering, depending on layout and the type of celebration. Compare the city’s rental spaces.
For a dinner-centered event, ask restaurants about a private room and an event-specific quote. Confirm whether you can host the ceremony there or should arrange it elsewhere. A rehearsal-dinner room listing does not by itself establish permission for a wedding ceremony.
For about 50 guests.
Anderson Point Cottage and Tucker House sit right at the city’s listed 50-seat capacity. Borden Building, listed at 102 seated, may give you more flexibility to investigate. See official venue capacities. Ask whether your count includes the couple and how the room accommodates food service.
A space at its maximum seated capacity might not leave the dance floor or ceremony aisle you imagined. Request a sample plan for your exact count, including tables, serving areas and accessible routes.
For about 75 guests.
Borden Building’s 102-seat listing makes it a starting point for inquiries. Lake Wheeler’s Waterfront Program Center lists 72 seated, despite a higher maximum occupancy, so do not treat it as a 75-person seated option without a different approved plan. Check the official figures.
If you want a restaurant reception, Caffé Luna publishes a Saturday-evening reception capacity of up to 90. Confirm the arrangement with the restaurant and read our Caffé Luna wedding guide.
Five questions that make a tour more useful.
- Can everyone sit for dinner in the same space?
- Where does the ceremony move in bad weather?
- Do dinner tables need to move before dancing?
- What equipment and staffing do we need to arrange?
- Can guests comfortably reach the entrance, seats and restrooms?
Bring your budget as well as the guest list. Our venue-rental budget guide separates space fees from the rest of the wedding cost. A small guest list does not automatically mean a short day, so also consider how many photography hours you need.
